On the beautiful morning of May 23, 2025, laughter and excitement filled the air as Stars Academy celebrated a heartwarming milestone—its very first VPK (Voluntary Prekindergarten) graduation. The event marked a meaningful occasion not only for the children but for the entire school community.
Dressed in tiny caps and gowns, eight bright young graduates proudly walked across a balloon-decorated stage, beaming with joy. As their names were called one by one, family members clapped, cheered, and wiped away tears. It was a day of celebration, reflection, and hope for the future.
The room was filled with love and support as parents captured memories, showered their little stars with flowers and hugs, and celebrated the achievements of their children. Special guests from the Gulf Coast Partnership, including CEO, Angela Hogan, were also in attendance to mark the occasion.
Child Care Director, Maria Guerrero, shared the inspiring story of how Stars Academy came to life—a story rooted in vision, resilience, and the power of community. She credited the leadership of those who dreamed big, the dedication of those who rallied behind the cause, and the critical financial support provided by the American Red Cross and the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, which made it possible to launch Stars Academy and bring high-quality early childhood education to Charlotte County.
“Today marks a milestone in the life of our school and in the hearts of our young learners,” said Guerrero. “We are filled with pride and joy as we celebrate the graduation of our very first VPK class—a group of bright, curious, and joyful children who have filled our classrooms with laughter, wonder, and growth.”
She continued by thanking parents: “Thank you for trusting us with your children’s earliest steps in education. Your support, involvement, and partnership have been the foundation of this year’s success.”
To the children, she offered heartfelt encouragement: “You are ready for kindergarten and beyond. Keep asking questions, exploring new ideas, and sharing your amazing selves with the world. This is just the beginning of your adventure. Congratulations, Class of 2025! You will always hold a special place in our hearts as the first stars to shine in our VPK sky.”
The event concluded with a sweet musical performance by the graduates, singing “Ya,Ya, It’s Graduation Day” and “Let’s Graduate,” followed by cake, laughter, and plenty of photos.
